Pain Management for your Pet
Adequate pain management for your pet after a surgical procedure or for any number of painful conditions seems like a no-brainer. The fact is, pain has not been treated in the past in the same manner it is today. It has been proven that pain, when left untreated can suppress the immune system, delay healing time and prolong recovery.
Pain can be measured in many different ways such as vocalizing, hiding, defensive, increased respiration, blood pressure, and heart rate.
The treatment decided by your doctor is dependent on the type of pain and the severity. Oral or injectable medications, physical therapy, and sometimes at home care can be recommended.
We try to assume and predict pain in advance to make sure your pet will remain comfortable no matter what the ailment or surgical procedure may be. Our goal at St. Francis Pet Clinic is to make sure pain does not affect your pet’s health and well being.
